Explorers

14 - 18 years old

Explorers will be expected to take a lead in determining the programme and running nights. Do come with ideas!

It is expected that Explorers will have other commitments from school to social activities and may not be able to come to each meeting. Please let us know if you intend to come, so we know how many to expect each night… We will get OSM running ASAP for this but until then email would be great.

  • Backwoods cooking with not-so-mystery guest Steve Layt from District.
  • Route planning for night hike

Fri 15th Nov – Night hike – JSC

  • Start (drop-off) from a top-secret location
  • Collect from the JSC
  • Those who make it back in time might get a hot drink

Fri 22nd Nov – Ramblers vs Landowners – JSC

  • Games
  • Debate with a twist

Fri 29th Nov – NO MEETING

  • Beavers Sleepover for Beavers YLs

Fri 6th Dec – Advanced Bike Maintenance – JSC

  • Maintenance session with Lindsay from Gorilla Cycling
  • Bring your bike or borrow one from Scouts

Fri 13th Dec – Wide Game – Location TBC

  • Game to be decideed when attendance numbers are confirmed
  • Bring a torch and warm clothing
  • Investiture for all Explorers to our new unit

  • Reflect on our first (half) term

Other activities

Sun 11th Nov – Remembrance Parade

  • Meet outside Oundle Oxfam at 2pm for 2:10pm start
  • 3:45pm finish at the Oundle Great Hall
  • Full formal uniform
  • YLs to assist with their unit
  • All Explorers who are able are expected to attend: This is a big part of Oundle tradition

2024-25 Programme: Nene Valley District

Explorers from 2nd Oundle can join in any activity run by all branches of the Nene Valley District Explorer Unit, whether that’s to join friends on another night or to take part in one of many expeditions.
